So, I’m going to prepend this post by saying that I’m not an expert at photography. I’m not a professional. My main living is that of a Software Engineer. So I know computers fairly well (or at least I try to). So yes, I do photography for fun and I’m not always the best at it. But what I am good at (this is the joy of being a Software Engineer) is figuring out problems, fixing them and sometimes sharing the results in a relatable, easy to understand manner. And I like doing that.

So here I am. My accreditations as a photographer to give advice? I have none. But over the past few years I have absorbed a lot of information on the subject and areas that usually plague photographers, especially the technical side. What’s the best aperture for landscape photography? How do I update my camera firmware? What’s the best lens for portraits, how do I upload to Instagram from my desktop PC? Ok, the answer to a few of those is it depends. But I think I can help.

Technically I think this is a bad photo, and I think we should celebrate our bad photography rather than be sad about it. How else can we improve?

I’ll keep this short as no one likes reading a wall of text these days. But simply, I’m asking what questions do you have about photography, the technology around photography, how to back up your photos, how to upload your photos, where to upload your photos? Post them in the comments, go crazy, and I’ll try to answer. I’m not saying I’ll know the answer but I can probably find out and relate that information back to you (or anyone else reading this and wants to pitch in, go for it).

This is me trying to give back to a community that I love and that has helped me so much. It’s time to pay that forward a little.
