When I started making the YouTube videos a few weeks back I said to myself that I wasn’t going to talk over them. No way, nuh uh. Who wants to listen to my voice I thought? I also hate public speaking. Yes, in theory I’m not really speaking to the public live per say, but it’s still another thing, another part of myself to put out there an be judged or critiqued. Not that anyone would do that to me, all my viewers and followers are wonderful, but this is the type of thing that plays in my mind.
Anyway, I went and did it. It’s a fear I wanted to overcome and I’m glad I did. It might not be the best YouTube video in the world but I’m damn proud of it. Also I have a new found respect for anyone who produces YouTube videos. How do these people edit multiple viewpoints of themselves, listening to their own voice, seeing themselves on camera over and over and over. Every YouTuber I watch now has my likes now simply because they deserve it for that effort.
I’m very happy, as you might have guessed. For now I think the YouTube videos will be in two forms and I’ve created playlists to match. The first, quick short edits less than 3 minutes, no talking or words on the screen, just relaxing music (depending on your tastes). The second, 4 way edits where I take a single image and edit it in 4 different styles doing more of the talky talky to explain what is going through my head when doing these.
As for the first ever video with me talking here it is: https://youtu.be/oz6IoAVcTTE and below are the four images from the video
